National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day: a quieter third year
This year, we're doing things a little differently. I don't have the capacity to organise a big National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day this October. And rather than force it into being something it isn't, I've decided to let this year's day be quieter.
But I don't want to let it pass. Too much has happened. Too many people have stood beside us. Too much has been achieved. And the reason I first stepped into the water is still very much here.
So on 10 October, I'll be swimming at Gylly. No big event. No noise. No pressure. Just a dip. A moment to stop and reflect on the last three years - on 1,000 consecutive swims, on the people who joined me along the way, on the money we raised, the awareness we created, and the extraordinary community that grew around one very simple promise. And, most importantly, on why we did it.
If you'd like to join me at Gylly, I'd love to see you. Or wherever you are in the world, find your own piece of water and take one dip with me. For Dave. For everyone living with neuroendocrine cancer. For those we've lost. And for everything we still need to change.
This year, we simply keep the light shining. One dip. One share. If you can't get in the water, share this instead - help us put neuroendocrine cancer in front of one more person.
Next year, National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day will be back bigger and stronger. But this year? We just need to be there. Together. Quietly. 10 October. Wherever you are.

Daily Dip 4 Dave is a registered charity (1218481) born from one woman's promise to swim in the sea every day for the man she loves. It's grown into a movement raising awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer, pushing for earlier diagnosis, and funding research - for Dave, and for everyone living with NET.
