Every year in October, people across the country get into cold water on the same day, to mark the anniversary of Day One and keep Neuroendocrine Cancer in the conversation.
The 1,000-day challenge was one person, alone, in the sea, every day. National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day flips that: one day, but not alone. Wherever you are, whatever water is nearest, getting in on the same day as everyone else is what makes it count.
It doesn't have to be the sea. Rivers, lidos, and garden paddling pools all count too.
A garden bathtub counts too. Genuinely, whatever's nearest.
Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth.
Can't make it in person? Take your own dip, wherever you are, at whatever time suits, on the same day.
The first National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day was held on 12 October 2024. The second followed on 11 October 2025. Both brought people together, in the cold, for the same reason: to be seen, and to be counted.
The scale keeps growing.
People have taken the day and made it their own, in a Scottish sea loch, at Loch Lomond, on a harbourside get-together, and even a workplace swapping shoes for buckets of cold water outside the office. Wherever people are, they've found their own way to be part of it.
Some people have taken the day with them wherever they happened to be: Bondi Beach, a mountain lake in New Zealand, Eric dipping in a river somewhere near Utah, and support from Exmouth, Western Australia. The date travels, even when the person swimming isn't at home.
For something that starts with a hard subject, the day itself is full of warmth. Fancy dress, family, friends leaning on each other, and the odd inflatable unicorn. Resilient defiance doesn't have to look serious to mean something.
Come down to Gyllyngvase Beach on the day. No sign-up needed, just turn up ready to get in.
Sea, river, lido, or garden paddling pool, wherever you are, take your dip on the same day and share it.
Can't get in the water yourself? Sharing the date and the reason behind it helps just as much.
However you're marking 10 October - in the sea, a river, your bath, or just sharing the day - tell us. It helps us see the map of people standing with Dave grow, and lets us support you if you need it.
However you take part, thank you, resilient defiance is better together.
